Human beings can be extremely opinionated and often offend people with
they're over zealous rants. What's interesting is that as a general rule we
seem to be attracted to people that use this character trait as a form of
entertainment. In fact, you can make a career out of speaking your mind and
the more argumentative or controversial you are the more the general public
buys into it.
I wonder what the inner circle friends of the stars of shock & awe really
think about them in more intimate settings. My guess is that they either
wish the professional debaters would leave the debate at the office or the
gurus of dogma have the ability to turn it off when in intimate settings
with they're closest friends. Or maybe they have no real friends.
The people I know that are bold enough to express themselves publicly often do not know when to keep silent.
Don't misunderstand me though. This blog is an example of this. I have an
opinion and I am willing to put it out there for people to critique. It may
not be the most controversial but in my own way I am saying everyone has a
right to hear my opinion.

a subject. The days of revering the scholar, academic, or wise elder has
turned into if you can rant loud enough and gain attention you must know
what your talking about. This must be what we mean when we say we are a
celebrity driven culture.
Social justice issues are a classic example. We would rather listen to
Angelina Jolie or Bono talk about social issues than Stephen Lewis or
Jeffrey Sachs.
I bet everyone knows the previous 2 names and only a few know the latter.
This scenario is played out even on a every playing field with people who
feel they have wisdom, making claims that something or someone is wrong and
they know what is right. Often with no knowledge of the subject.
Religious fundamentalists spark this type of rant from the ignorant all the time
with the ignorant statements they mistakenly make. In the end they are all being
ignorant but usually one individual or group of individuals will make claims with
no real knowledge of the subject at all. How many of us have heard someone make
claims about what is written in the Bible that are so obviously out to lunch and you
know that they have likely never even picked up the book.
I will have to continue this later as I need to catch a flight right now but watch this

6 year old kids? Which one of them deserves to be listened to?
